Vampire's Kiss V

The gate spell dissipated, and, expecting to see Ashtear here, she knelt to the floor before the gate dissolved. But she didn't expect to see this.

Ashtear was there all right, surrounded by a nimbus of necrotic energy, black lightning arcing and crackling between his outstretched fingers, and the center of a dark portal that was in the center of the summoning circle. The portal, a dark swirling ovoid, seemed to pulse as even darker veins ran it's surface. The portal seemed almost to groan in protest of Ashtear's work, but he pushed on, the lightning growing in intensity with each step.

From what she knew of magick, she knew that gate to lead elsewhere, though where, she didn't know. She also knew, from the sigils on the floor and the runes that flashed in and out of existence in the air around Ashtear, that he was trying to shut this gate. And she also knew, to her great concern, that if he was exerting himself this much, and the gate was still open, then whatever was pushing from the other side was dreadful indeed.

Suddenly, the goons outside didn't seem so important anymore.

- o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o

Ashtear gritted his teeth. He was trying to destabilize the gate, to make it collapse, yet, something was restabilizing it from the other side. No, something was restructuring the gate at some point between the source and destination, to make it point somewhere else. And considering the planes his gate had to pierce through to get to the plane of shadow, this didn't look good.

At all.

- o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o

Amidst the crackling of Ashtear's spell and the groaning of the colossal gate, something prickled at Kayrim's sensitivity. Something hidden, yet barely within her perception. Here, yet not quite...

There! Circling the protective sigils carved on the ground, besides the gate, something scratched at the sigils. It looked impish, with elongated nails and pointed features, like a demon of sorts. He was scratching at the ground bordering the protective circle, seeking to undermine the integrity of the stone, since, by their very nature, the sigils themselves repelled the intrusion. He was indirectly trying to bring the circle down.

"Ash, something's trying to slip out of the circle!"

"Then do something about it!", he growled back, unable to spare the effort to even look at her, or check what she was talking about. Even talking to her seemed to have taken his deep concentration off a bit, the lightning imperceptibly waning for a second or two, while he recovered precise control again.

"They're inside the circle, Ash! I can't reach them any more than they can reach us! If I break it to get to them, I do their work for them!"

Ashtear yelled "Then deal with it!", frustration apparent in his voice. Kayrim had never heard him so out of control, and she sincerely wondered what would happen if he totally lost it.

- o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o

And that's when he totally lost it. Deciding that a change of tactics was necessary, Ashtear dropped both his attack on the gate, and the protective circle. A small flick of a wrist, and the barrier's energy runs inverted on the runes around it, causing it to collapse explosively.

Kayrin braces herself, the explosion ripping the stone on the ground in all directions. Ashtear, seeing she's ok, continues with the next step. "Instead of just staying there, wasting all that energy and not really succeeding..." he muses to himself, "I might as well take the offensive, shouldn't I?" He smiles softly, and vanishes.

- o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o

"What the hell is he thinking?" She backflips to the wall behind her, hoping that the explosion and a quickly-woven shadowcloak will cover her until her opponents show themselves.

Things aren't looking so good.

Kayrim's approach

Silently, the shadows in your room seem to gather above your bed, in the corner of the roof. From the darkness, two violet eyes stare at you, deep and ageless in their beauty. They seem to take you in, while the shadows take her shape. She just stays there, perched on the walls in her black gown, lace flowing from her hair, small spikes at the tips.

With a swift motion, she drops down, landing in her knees next to your bed. She softly caresses your face, and whispers to herself "She'll do just fine". With a soft kiss in your forehead, the shadowstuff that made up her body scatters, flitting across your body before doing so. And in the brief moment when the shadows caress your sleeping form, you feel a warmth unlike anything you have felt before, deep within you. Something in you, kin to this form...

This is a small piece I wrote for a friend of mine who was asleep on MSN Messenger, while I was bored at work.

Vampire's Kiss IV

Finished from her fight, Kayrim asessed the situation. She had been seriously stabbed in the chest, although she was able to heal herself by the power of her blood. The armor of blood she had created in case any other unsuspecting attack showed up was wasted, since nothing else came, and, although she could recover most of the blood used in it's casting, it still wasted effort.

Concentrating on her blood, the armor dissipated, it's crimson tendrils entering her pores, her blood reabsorbed. Her flesh was bare once again, but flushed, like she were still alive.

Yes, the memories of her life came back to her whenever she saw herself like this, her body without the pallor that so characteristically comes to those who have been undead for so long. Her skin, soft and reflective for the wet sheen the blood left on her, gleamed in the moonlight that filtered through the drapes of this old castle. She was still nervous, as shown by her straight stark white hair, down to her bottom, snaking as if on a will of it's own, still wary of any attackers. Her breasts heaved in solitude, still active from her last encounter.

She knew better than to breathe. After her transformation, she didn't need to anymore. Yet, in moments like this, that required full concentration, some old habits sprang back unchecked. Breathing was one of them.

She continued on, aware that this was not the last attack on the castle she and her Master inhabited, yet knowing that she had to hold it's inner sanctum, lest their enemies disturb the Master at such a delicate moment. Her legs, strong and firm, effortlessly moved her foward.

Wait. There... A sound. Close ahead, coming at her. Reflexes already strung from the last encounter, she called to the darkness to envelop her as a woman might wear a cloak, to cover her in it's cold embrace. Shadows began to unfurl from their respective objects, and to surround her, covering her in the deepest black that could only come from such strong manifestations of darkness.

Finishing the incantation, she tensed her legs, making two quick jumps; one from the floor to the stairway railing, and another to the roof of the grand hall, and stood there, upside down, her feet anchored to the roof by the power of her Vitae. From here she had a perfect view of what happened, and, should things require decisive action, she'd be in the perfect spot to start her work unmolested for as long as required.

Three more men came in, crossbows in hand, stakes in the belts. Strong men, although a bit careless. They seemed alert enough, and, maybe, they could have taken other vampires. But not her. Not now.

Concentrating on her arm, her blood began to pour from her fingernails, and solidify as it came out. Guided by will and dark magic, her blood took on the shape of the most exquisite blade, a japanese katana that had proven it's worth thousands of years ago, so much so that she had decided to make it a part of her own flesh, so it may never leave her grasp. Perverted, yet greatened, by her dark power, it's handle resembled bone where wood once was, and the blade, previously made of the strongest steel, was now laced with dark runes in languages long forgotten. Yet, if any meaning could be gleamed from the crimson surface, this blade meant power.

One of them suddenly looks up, straight at her, and, with a few curt syllables, sends balls of intense flame in her direction. "Damnit!", she mutters under her breath, while leaping straight down. She tucks her knees in, flipping over and landing on her feet with a strong impact, to the protest of the stone floor, which cracks under the stress. Wasting no time, the other two still looking up, she dashes foward, and in an almost imperceptible move, her blade enters her victim's body through his lower back, and exits through the top of his chest, a clean cut that is noticeable only after the blade returns to her side. With her other hand, she intones, blood calling to blood, and suddenly, the inminent fountain of blood from the sliced hunter gathers in her right hand, and explodes just as quickly, vaporizing as a fine mist that permeates the whole room with a soft red glow, like a red light in fog.

Visibility reduced to a vague recollection of the surroundings, the other hunter begins to shoot his auto-loading crossbow randomly, fear beginning it's domination of his will. Some of the bolts do get to her, or rather, to the barrier she erected in front of her, thinking of precisely such an attack, or perhaps another fireball.

The sorcerer, however, still stands in control, focusing not on his quarry, but on the emanations her magical effects leave in their stead. Looking for these, she is as brights as the sun in this dark room. He begins to gather his energies, readying himself to sunder the barrier protecting her, and a split-second later force the stone beneath her to rise, impaling her.

And he begins. He shatters her barrier to the winds, and readies the casting of the stone spike. As soon as the barrier falls, however, a giant spike of steel skitters end over end, taking the now-crazed hunter in the face, to the hilt, impaling him to the wall. "A sad repercussion of his lack of control.", the sorcerer mutters, and continues his plan. Now!

The stone beneath Kayrim shuffles imperceptibly, and suddenly reshapes itself, protruding from the ground in the blink of an eye. The spike thrusts between her legs, seeking to quench her life.

For a second, and to the unexperienced, it seems like the spike succeeds, ripping her apart from the center out in a mess of gore. What the wise know, and the sorcerer realized too late, is that it's never that easy.

Kayrim had a close save. She barely sensed the magick under her feet, and quickly transmuted herself to her element, the blood that stayed suspended in the air from the earlier incantation. The spike still wounded her slightly, where it forced her to separate before her body was ready. But now, quickly moving her essence from droplet to droplet to coalesce behind the sorcerer, she knew how to finish this.

The sorcerer was content, seeing gore smear the spike, messily slopping down. By the time he sensed the suddent emmanation of dark energy behind him, the blade had already done it's job. Following directions from Kayrim, the sword disentangled itself from the remains of the hunter in the wall and flew to her side, where she grasped it and sliced.

The sorcerer had a brief second to look at his fingers dropping off before he saw the rest of him tumble down in chunks. It had been messy, but she wasn't about to underestimate the healing powers of a sorcerer.

In a moment of silent contemplation, she sensed the others outside. At least 20 more. She would need everything she had to pull this one off. She concentrated, her hair flying around her body, caressing her soft stomach, arms, and legs, and channeled all the enrgy she dared without calling too much attention to herself. She recollected all the blood on the room, concentrating it in a human-sized orb in front of her, which she entered, dancing with her blade in her arms. "Come, Darkshard, this will definitely be interesting."

Leaving only a soft sweet giggle in the air, she plunged into the liquid surface of the crimson orb, sword in tow. Then the orb receded into itself, to the size of a droplet, which fell to the floor, the one single mark of Kayrim on the floor.

Vampire's Kiss III

Softly gliding through the darkness in the room, Kayrim passes by, oblivious to the danger near her. In sudden motion, 3 flitting shadows pass by her, only equaled by Kayrim's fluidity in evading the sharp cuts their daggers produced. She smirks, softly, and observes them. Much blood pumping through... Hmm, "This could be fun", she says aloud.

The first shadow, now the silhouette of a man, dashes for her, with a second running close behind him. She braces for their attack, an attack that never comes. They jump out from in front of her, to opposing sides, stand on the walls to her sides by the force of their jump, then leap back in towards her from the walls, mettalic talons at the ready. She tenses, and, in a single fluid movement, steps in under the left assailant, grabbing him by the wrist. Practiced motion acting on it's own, she snaps his wrist with her fingers, the enormous strength of undeath helping her on this task. In the same movement, she pulls back, slamming him against the second assailant, who was dumbstruck at slicing through thin air. How could she move so fast?

Both thugs a pile on the floor, she takes the dagger from the broken wrist, and looks coolly at the third opponent, who has been only watching so far. He smiles, and suddenly vanishes. Before Kayrim's heart could beat once more, if it could at all, he's behind her, slicing at her back, and just barely drawing a thin line of blood on her back. She leaps foward, minimizing this potentially worse wound, yet, wondering if she's bitten off more than she can chew. She should call on Ashtear, yet, she wanted to prove to him she could do this on her own. A quick flick of her arms and a handstand later, and she's on her feet, looking at him again.

The tear in her dress being too much for it, the dress rips, dropping to the floor. She stands there, fully naked, her breasts heaving in the sudden motion, yet, she braces herself for another movement. He moves to strike again, yet, this time, she is ready. He comes at her with a straight thrust, deceptively simple, yet she can see where his foot will land, hinting at the side spin the thrust will take as soon as it hits it's full extension. And just before the foot lands, she flicks the stolen dagger at the tendons on that foot, severing them, and, thus, bringing him to the floor.

But before he can realize about his foot, his thrust is still coming in sharp. Not defending for this, he impales into her chest, straight through to the hilt.

They stand there. Her on her feet, naked, with a foot of steel in her chest, and him, putting all his weight in the blade, for otherwise he'd fall. The blood splatters on her face, breasts, stomach, and his front as well. She just stands there, motionless, eyes caught in the impact of the sharp blade on her chest. He looks at her, noticing the blade within her, and smiles. SHe's done with.

But something's wrong. The blood on his face starts to move, her blood. The blood in her body begins to flow back to the wound.. no, to the center of her chest, just above the wound. The blood coalesces there, and begins to flow outward, covering her body. He looks, scared, stunned, tries to flee, but the dagger is stuck, held fast by her body, his hands held tight by the splash of her blood on them.

Of all the blood on her body, a small thin line starts to snake from her chest, to the blade, like a line of ants marching, to his arm, and up his body to his face. He's very afraid now, revulsed at what's happening now, yet there's nothing he can do. He's done for, and he knows it.

The blood snakes to his mouth, and enters. He begins to choke, to sputter. The blood now covers her fully, resembling a skin-tight suit of dark red. The dagger begins to dissolve in her chest, sizzling like butter on a pan, melting off of her, showing a perfect bosom underneath. Flawless. Like her kill.

Suddenly, a lot more blood than came in comes out. From his eyes, ears, nose, mouth. A sudden torrent of blood spews forth, floating in the air above its owner. She leans foward, planting a kiss on his lips, the last thing he ever feels.

The presumptuous killer, now a dissecated husk, slumps to the floor, where it snaps, too dry to maintain it's flexibility. The blood floats above him, in a huge droplet, suspended in the air as if gravity did not, could not, affect it. She extends her arms, touching the orb of the darkest wine, and proclaims above her fallen enemies.

"Master! May this sacrifice of blood offered by our enemies stand as proof that you are superior, and that any of our enemies will so crumble as dusk beneath our feet! Come to us, master, and bring forth this new age of darkness this world so very needs for it to be reborn!"

Trapt

Now, this is surprising... Right when I thought there was no interesting music anymore, at least for the stuff I listen to, my brother hits me with Trapt. Very nice, both in music and lyrics. Recommended.

Sort of reminds me of Finger Eleven, my all-time favourite band, in the depth of some of the lyrics.

Some things to clear up...

It seems I got in trouble with my girlfriend because of some material i posted here, so I think it prudent to clarify some things about what I post here.

First of all, I post here what comes to mind whenever there's a computer with internet nearby, and i'm bored, or whenever I find something nice to show to the world.

Now, if I post something here, it's sincerely what I feel at the moment. AT THE MOMENT. Probably half the stuff I post here doesn't stay in my head after I post it. So, even though I post important stuff here, I also post stuff that isn't important.

Now, if a cute little girl parades her butt in front of me, I might make the comment "gee, she's hot". Chances are, if I'm online at the time or have an internet terminal close by, I might post it here. Ask me later the same day if I remember. That's another purpose of this blog. To show a timeline of the stuff that goes through my head, so I can later look back and laugh. Or cry. Whatever.

Now, baby(and I'm talking to my girlfriend now), if I post here that there's a girl that I saw and I liked, yet I didn't tell you later on, chances are it wasn't important enough to the relationship for me to tell you. In fact, as far as the posts in question are concerned, what was there is already over, as you would see from the posts themselves. The fact that I tell you that I love you should be enough for you to accept that I love you, and, if not that, then the simple practicality of the fact that I wouldn't waste my time with someone that I don't love should finish the job.

Shouldn't that be enough? *sob*

Now, if all of this isn't enough, and you don't trust me enough to simply accept what you feel and rather you decide to just go with the first thing you see, then fine. Your call, darling. Nothing I can do there.

But tell me, in a relationship, where the utmost ideal is trust, shouldn't my word be enough?

Shouldn't it?

*cry*

I'm Scared

It seems my coming to this shift, like everything in life, had a purpose. One of my workmates seems to have done a boo-boo about two weeks ago, coinciding with the time I was offered to come down here.

He was fired today.

So suddenly this position is not so cool. In part because he left, but mostly because now there's a lot more pressure here, since we're down to two.

*sigh*

Getting ready for work.

Here I am , like the title says, getting ready for work. This shift is kinda tiring, but it's cooler. More pay, better work companions, and I'm never late for class for oversleeping! ^_^

Don't hesitate to e-mail me for anything!!! I'm just happy for the Gmail account. It kicks ass!!!

I am dying.

I am dying.

Every day with every breath I draw, I am closer to the end of my life. For we are born with a finite number of breaths, and each one I take edges the sunlight that is my life toward the inevitable dusk.

It is a difficult thing to remember, especially while we are in the health and strength of our youth, and yet, I have come to know that it is an important thing to keep in mind - not to complain or to make melancholy, but simply because only with the honest knowledge that one day I will die can I ever truly begin to live. Certainly I do not dwell on the reality of my own mortality, but I believe that a person cannot help but dwell, at least subconciously, on that most imposing specter until he has come to understand, to truly understand and appreciate, that he will one day die. That he will one day be gone from this place, this life, this conciousness and existence, to whatever it is that awaits. For only when a person completely and honestly accepts the inevitability of death is he free of the fear of it.

So many people, it seems, stick themselves into the same routines, going through each day's rituals with almost religious precision. They become creatures of simple habit. Part of that is the comfort afforded by familiarity, but there is another aspect to it, a deep-rooted belief that as long as they keep everything the same, everything will remain the same. Such rituals are a way to control the world about them, but in truth, they cannot. For even if they follow the exact routine day after day after day, death will surely find them.

I have seen other people paralyze their entire existence around that greatest of mysteries, shaping their every movement, their every word, in a desperate attempt to find the answers to that unanswerable. They fool themselves, either through their interpretations of ancient texts or through some obscure sign from a natural event, into believing that they have found the ultimate truth, that they will surely be rewarded in the afterlife. This must be the greatest manifestation of that fear of death, the errant belief that we can somehow shape and decorate eternity itself, that we can curtain it's windows and place it's furniture in accordance with our own desperate desires. Along the road that led me to Icewind Dale, I came upon a group of followers of Ilmater, the god of suffering, who were so fanatical in their beliefs that they would beat each other senseless, and welcomed torment, even death itself, in some foolish belief that by doing so they would pay the highest tribute to their god.

I believe them to be wrong, though in truth, I cannot know anything for certain concerning what mystery lies beyond this mortal coil. And so I, too, am but a creature of faith and hope. I hope that Zaknafein has found eternal peace and joy, and pray with all my heart that when I cross over the threshold into the next existence, I will see him again.

Perhaps the greatest evil I see in this existence is when supposedly holy men prey upon the basic fears of death of the common folk to take from them. "Give to the church!" they cry. "Only then will you find salvation!" Even more subtle are the many religions that do not directly ask for a person's money, but insist that anyone of goodly and godly heart who is destined for their particular description of heaven, would willingly give that money over.

And of course, Toril is ripe with "doomsdayers", people who claim that the end of the world is at hand, and cry for repentance and for almost slavish dedication.

I can only look at it all and sigh, for as death is the greatest mystery, so it is the most personal of revelations. We will not know, none of us, until the moment it is upon us, and we cannot truly and in good conscience convince another of our beliefs.

It is a road we travel alone, but a road that I no longer fear, for in accepting the inevitable, I have freed myself from it. In coming to recognize my mortality, I have found the secret to enjoying those centuries, years, months, or even hours, that I have left to draw breath. This is the existence I can control, and to throw away the precious hours over fear of the inevitable is a foolish thing indeed. And to subconciously think ourselves immortal, and thus not appreciate those precious few hours that we all have, is equally foolish.

I cannot control the truth of death, whatever my desperation. I can only make certain that those moments of my life I have remaining are as rich as they can be.

Much better!!!

Ahhh. Seems I just needed some hot chocolate to get the body started. Here I am at work, at 4:41am, placidly staring at the roof, since I'm done with today's duties.

*sigh*

Feeling much better now. So much better now, in fact, that I'll see what to do with my time. I've fowarded most of the e-mails worth keeping from my old account to my new account, so that's that. Now I have to change all the subscriptions to the newsletters I get from the old account to the new one. That will take some time. Also, I have some writing to do, in order to complete a gift to a friend.

Also, anyone know where I could learn to use The Gimp? I need to learn to use it, so I can finish a gift I'm preparing for a friend of mine.

I'm also currently reading "The Icewind Dale Trilogy"by R.A. Salvatore. Very nice. Love Drizzt Do'Urden. Very complex character. There's a part of that book I have to type here, if for the teaching it gives, something that can be used by all of us, and a solution to a problem that plagues me.

In fact, I think I'm gonna do that now.

Ash Out.

THIS IS HELL!!!!

This is too damn tiring...... I hope my body shapes itself into this schedule, so I can keep working it, since I ike it. But this is torture... working on little sleep at the moment... i feel like i'm gonna collapse.....

I hope it gets better, at least for my body.

2nd day on graveyard shift

Well, it's the second day on the graveyard shift, and i'll give a report on the first day:

VERY COOL!
The other poeple who work here at that time are real cool. We set up loud music, and work, yet hang out, at the same time. t's really comfortable, very nice. We cover for each other smoothly. It's very nice. Now, If I could play World of Warcraft from here, I'd never go home! ^_^

In other news, today, I enter work at 12:00 midnight, then leave at 7:00 to enter college at 8:00am. Seeing as how yesterday after work I only lasted to 11:00am before dropping from sleep, we'll see how I fare today, since I got college till 3:00pm. We'll see how that manages.

Ashtear Out.

Whohoo!! I got a gmail account!!!

Haha!!! I finally got a gmail account, all thanks to a friend of mine who invited me in. Thanks YOU (You know who you are!)!!!! *SMOOCH*

BTW, the new e-mail addy is Ashtear.Hinoarashi@gmail.com.

Nifty system, I like gmail better than any other free mail service I've been on. Real nice.

Wow, this is so cool!

Well, today's my first day working the midnight shift, and, I must say, this is so cool! The people working here at this hour are very nice, unlike the tight-assed bastards during daytime. Plus, there's no stupid phone calls, only loud music and the reports. This rocks. We'll see how the transition to the 8:00 shift works out. From what I hear the people coming in at that time are assholes. We'll see who wins out.

Tune out.

Take this to heart

The strip the link points to is a very astute asessment of how some people play the game. And it's true, it is much fun to watch others play!

I've decided

Here at work.. bored...

I've decided that like natural beauty, I'll observe from afar, for such a beautiful creature should not be disturbed, only admired in it's natural setting.

I should not poke my hand where it's not been asked to go. WHo am I to interfere with the natural course of things?

If i'm meant to poke in, things will turn around towards me.. that's how it usually works, anyways... I think it's time I learned I shouldn't just take everything I want.

*sigh*
