Anne and Alice

"Hey, Alice, I'm home!"

I suddenly wake up with a jolt. Anne is home? Why so early? I quickly voice this question to her while I get off of bed and brush my teeth.

"I decided I wasn't feeling so good", she says this while making an exaggerated fake coughing sound, "so I decided to leave work and take a sick day.

While I'm brushing my teeth, I can see her stand behind me in the bathroom mirror, and hug me. "Besides, I was thinking that we weren't spending as much time together as i'd like." With this, she hugs me real hard, and i'm forced to spit out the toothpaste into the sink.

I tell her "Hey, cut it out!", and try to squirm off of her grip. I get some toothpaste from the tube to smear on her, but by the time I get out, she jumps back and runs laughing to the kitchen, completely evading my toothpaste swipe.

Hmm. My life hasn't been that bad, ever since I met her a few weeks ago. Everything else has been happening real fast since then, but it all feels so... perfect.

"Hurry it up in there, Alice! I have a surprise for you here, and after that I have some things I'd like to do."

"I'm coming, I'm coming! Geez, what's all the r...u...sh..?" I stare at a stack of about 20 pancakes, with what I assume is maple syrup flowing slowly from a bottle in Anne's hands. She knows I love pancakes.
